Recycle Your Comics

April 13, 2007 by matt 1 Comment

I got a new sticker for my recycling bin, one of those informational diagrams that tells you what kind of paper you can put in the blue recycling bin. I was pleased to notice that illustration the City of New York used for “magazines and catalogs” was a comic book… but then I took a second look and thought, “What the hell kind of comic book is that?!?”
Are New Yorkers reading a lot of Henriette Valium and Rick Trembles these days? Is this some manga I’m not hip to? The cover of the pamphlet is a fairly classic design, so is it some old silver age title I missed? In any case, what the hell is that on the cover?? It could be a smog monster or a half-digested martini olive for all I can tell…

Haha! That comic looks great! I would totally read it. Maybe it’s a comic about recycling and that’s a drawing of some kind of garbage heap. But then there is the unassuming title of ‘COMIC’ that throws me off a bit.
